You may have seen that a few weeks ago I travelled to Cambridge for a little staycation with Dan and a few of our friends. Apart from a very stressful afternoon power walking round Cambridge to shoot some content for aperol which you hopefully saw on my feed, we got to unwind in the evening to a very special punting experience with Rutherford’s Punting.

This experience was kindly offered complimentary in exchange for pr services.
If you head to the Rutherford’s Punting website, you can find a whole array of different punting experiences for all kinda of budgets but the experience we were of course most interested in was the Punting Date package – you all know how much I love a date night.
The experience itself is valued at £190 for two and although this may make you tense at first, a private punting tour with most companies in Cambridge will cost you between £100-120, so in my opinion if it is a special occasion, splashing out that little extra is definitely worth it.
Here’s what will be included when you book ‘Date Night punting Tour’:
- Bottle of Champagne OR 4 bottles of IPA (you get the option to pick when you book online)
- 2 Sourdough Pizzas from Parkers Tavern, one of the best restaurants in Cambridge
- You’re own chauffeur to explain all the sites during your tour
- Blankets and cushions for comfort
- Hot water bottle in colder weather

*Please note that as this was a press collaboration we had 4 of us on a boat as both me and Camilla were shooting however a usual package is for 2, should you wish to book for 4 I would recommend contacting the company to directly discuss your options
From what I am aware they are the only punting company to offer these kind of special tours whilst in Cambridge and when I say all eyes are on you whilst you’re on your date, I’m not over exaggerating. People couldn’t be more jealous or hide their fomo. We absolutely lucked out with weather as although it was slightly windy, we went for an early evening tour and the golden light hitting the university as we sailed by was just gorgeous, so I would recommend booking an evening until for extra romance points.
In terms of food we opted for the lobster pizza (of course, boujee pizza for a boujee date) and then a simple magherita and although both were luke warm by the time we had got the shot, they were still delicious and I devoured mine in about 5 seconds.

It’s such a lovely experience and I honestly think, if you’re going to pay the £100-120 for a private punt, upgrading to this experience is well worth it as enjoying the views of Cambridge from the water with a glass of champagne and pizza is truly living the driving.
