I’m really glad I travelled to the end of the Metropolitan line and you will too! Here’s why…
Where to find them:
21 Piazza Walk, Aldgate East, E1 8QH
I got off at Aldgate and it was about an 8 min walk and maybe only 5mins from Aldgate East. Look out for the fountain of horses and you’re in the right area.
What they’re about:
Inspired by Mediterranean and Middle East cuisine, Amber really offers a brunch with a twist. There’s no specific brunch menu just breakfast and lunch which means there’s really a world of choice. The interior is very relaxed and neutral with hanging plants and a mix of light wood and concrete grey, it’s a great place to come and enjoy healthy and hearty food outside of the hustle and bustle of city life. They have a salad bar and dessert/cake counter which you can add to you meal as a side but they have a twist on all
What to order:
- Burnt Aubergine
- Pide – this is a must (pronounced pee-day, not pied like we all thought)
- Shakshouka (I added extra Aubergine)
The Verdict:
The food is rich with flavour and doesn’t leave you feeling like you need to be rolled out. The burnt aubergine is definitely one to share on the gram and I really loved the mix of flavours in the Shakshouka. The Pide is the special for amber and if you look on their instagram it is basically a filled bread boat and it looked delicious. This was a find by @notsobasiclondon for her monthly London food social and I will definitely be back for their bottomless brunch. For as little as £35, you can get bottomless small plates and prosecco – who’s coming with me?
