Barcelona seems like a lifetime ago already but what a weekend it was.
First of all, my amazing girl friend Chloe utterly smashed the marathon and a weekend in Barcelona is not only dirt cheap in March but fabulously sunny. Not to rub it in but I had my legs out and sunglasses on all weekends so if there is anything I recommend it’s booking a trip this time next year for some early sunshine.
But of course one of the best things about Barcelona was the brunch – how predictable of me.
Here’s where I went for brunch over the my long weekend away:
#1 Brunch & Cake
If you google “Best brunches in Barcelona” or even just Insta-search “Barcelona Brunch” you will easily find the bright and colourful feed that is Brunch & Cake. This place – WOW. I had the best vegan burger I’ve ever tried and replacing the regular muffins with pretzels, G.E.N.I.U.S. For 13EUR each (between 3) we got one dish each and a coffee or two in Nicole’s case as her paleo peanut butter coffee was awful. If we had a chance to go back, I would recommend the Super Sandwich.

#2 Flax & Kale
Delicious flexitarian healthy food and with an extensive smoothie, fruit juice and chai drinks menu, Flax and Kale is not only a must visit but it will no doubt make you feel like a better person when you’ve left. The weather was of course divine and we went to Flax & Kale Tallers which is a short walk from Las Ramblas and HUGE. Sit outside on the rooftop if you can and order the coco masala chai!

#2 Tropico
The main thing that attracted me to Tropico was the smoothies and very colourful feed they have on Instagram (fitting with the general Barcelona brunch scene). This menu was much more exotic (or tropical eh eh?) and designed more for ordering lot’s of sharing plates but anywhere that serves enchiladas for breakfast will always leave a positive memory. If you have a sweet tooth – the pancakes here are divine!

Real head turners aren’t they?
Other places to brunch are:
- Ugot
- The Benedict
- Milk Bar and Bistro
- Citizen Brunch Cafe
- Picnic Restaurant
- La Taguara
Ahhh this is so nice to read! I used to live in Barcelona for a while and I know some of these places. Barcelona is food heaven 🙂 x
